Heal and Protect Your Skin From the Sun
Stop putting this in your skin! Do this instead!
so many people have been asking me about suncare lately it’s only fitting with the warmer months coming and everybody wanting to get outside and start to feel like we are living in a pre covid world. but can we do that safely can we actually go out in the sun and not burn? Can we synthesize vitamin D? Can the sun actually be our friend? The answer to all of this is yes. I know you might be skeptical but let’s look at the facts and the evidence as I take a moment to educate you on how to care for your skin in the sun.
First, let’s start with the dont’s it is amazing to me how we’ve been sold this bill of goods. If we all just put sunscreen on our skin every day we will avoid skin cancer and sunburns and everything will be amazing and wonderful! But have you seen the list of chemicals and the products they’re trying to sell us to protect us? It’s appalling to me the list of chemicals so we are being told is good for us.
oxybenzone or benzophenone avobenzone Cyclopentasiloxane Cyclomethicone formaldehyde Diazolidinyl urea quaternium-15 DMD h hydantoin hydroxymethyl glycinate homosalate methylisothiazolinone microbeads nanoparticles octocrylene octyl methoxycinnamate
parabens Phthalates retinyl palmitate sodium lauryl laureth sulphate zinc oxide.
The list is long and I don’t have to tell you that these are all chemicals that are not good to be putting on your body. Things like formaldehyde, urea, [which is dehydrated pee by the way] parabens and sulfates are all things that do not belong in your skin as you can see zinc oxide is included in the list and that’s because some companies will try to sell you zinc it’s clear until you it’s safe for your skin but it’s not. I’ve included a link for details about all of these if you want more information.
Ok so now that that’s out there and I’ve got your attention what can be done instead? Well, I’ll tell you
Get The Recipe Here!
1 Cup brewed then cooled Green Tea or Cold Matcha Tea
1/2 Cup Coconut Milk from either a can or a carton. Add more or less according to your desired moisture level. If you use the milk from a carton you will need more as it has a higher water level to begin with.
You can also try adding some liquid Vit C or some Sea salt or Zinc powder
You may want to add the zinc powder as another layer but if you do remember that you need to shake the bottle often before you spray and make sure you use eco-safe zinc. the link is above in the recipe. Do not use clear Zinc as this is not skin safe and has been mixed with some sort of acid to make it clear.
Pour in your spray bottle and enjoy all summer long! Spray on your Skin often to achieve the best results
Keep in fridge when not in use.
Depending on how much you make and how often you use it you might be making some everyday. If this is the case than maybe you might want to try making the coconut into ice cubes and pouring the warm tea over the cubes to melt. Pour it into your spray bottle and enjoy
The first thing we need to understand is that keeping yourself healthy and in Tip-Top shape is the key the real skin care out in the sun. How do we achieve this? Through antioxidants course! Antioxidants eliminate free radicals which is the main cause of your skin being burnt by the Sun, Did you know that you can just take extra vitamin C for instance before you go out in the sun and that will improve your ability to ward off the sun’s damaging rays? I have a skin and cell health program that I teach and is mainly focused anti-aging and staying vital as you age. A big part of that program is how to use antioxidants to your advantage I’m 41 years old and I look like I’m 30 because I’ve learned these secrets a long time ago and now I’m sharing them with you! Part of the secrets is how I care for my skin in the Sun
What Are Free Radicals?
The sun is sneaky, Its invisible ultraviolet A and B rays cause early skin aging like wrinkles, dark sun spots, fine lines, and crow’s feet. UV radiation does more than damage the surface of your skin; it alters the actual DNA of your skin cells! The sun’s rays penetrate your skin deeply and cause the formation of harmful molecules called free radicals. These free radicals cause damage to your skin’s cells and tissues, causing genetic mutations that can lead to skin cancer, and even cellular death. Fortunately, there’s scientific evidence that green tea not only fights free radicals from within – it also helps to reverse the effects of sun damage. Antioxidants neutralize the free radical damage caused by exposure to the Sun. In addition, antioxidants help skin against other sources of free radicals such blue light from devices.
Green Tea
You already know the benefits of green tea for promoting internal health, and you might have heard that it’s all the rave in natural beauty – but its uses don’t end there. This superstar ingredient is a powerhouse of skin saviors with antioxidant, anticancer, antibacterial, and antiviral properties.
- Antioxidants
Green tea’s antioxidant-rich ingredients are key to its skin protective and cell regenerative properties. Antioxidants serve to protect the body from harmful free radicals found in our everyday environment. Antioxidants bind to free radicals, neutralizing them before they can cause harm. How awesome is that?!
- Polyphenols
Green tea contains a large quantity of polyphenols, which have powerful antioxidant properties. Research has shown that these polyphenols can help to track down and isolate free radicals, and limit their potential to harm your tissue.
- Catechins
Polyphenols also have a high content of catechins, which are antioxidants by nature. The catechins in green tea have also been shown to function as anti-inflammatory and anticancer agents. More recent studies have shown that green tea increases benzoic acid levels – a key compound used to treat skin irritation caused by sunburns or conditions like eczema.
- EGCG
The most abundant antioxidant in green tea is EGCG. Research has shown that EGCG can reduce cellular damage caused by free radicals, and can also help to promote healthy cellular life-cycles. It’s thought to help suppress the formation of cancerous tumors, and to improve your skin’s ability to repair itself after it’s damaged. In other words, EGCG works in a way like a natural sunscreen – but don’t you dare stop using sunscreen!
- Nutrients
There are more benefits of green tea for your skin than just antioxidants! When combined with vitamin C in coconut milk specifically, green tea is even more effective at protecting your skin against free radical damage. Green tea naturally contains vitamin E, which hydrates cracked and dry skin (a common side effect of sunburns). Did you know that these two vitamins are besties? Research shows that they work well together to protect skin from sun damage.
- Minerals
Antioxidants, nutrients, and minerals – oh, my! The benefits of green tea seem endless. This superstar ingredient also contains healthy minerals, such as potassium, magnesium, calcium, and zinc. These minerals assist in maintaining the skin’s balance and equilibrium, and creating a steady radiant glow – all of which prolonged exposure to the sun can steal.
Antioxidants such as vitamins E and C are molecules that inhibit the oxidization of other molecules in sunscreen they work by neutralizing Sun’s Rays on the skin before the cells start to incur damage
